Sajid Hashmi has worked for over 20 years experience as a Chief Executive in the voluntary sector, and has extensive experience of managing and developing the third sector and VCS organisations within it.
Currently he is the independent Chair of the Bury Voluntary Community and Faith Alliance, setting up a new infrastructure Support organisation.
He led the development of VAST, one of the most successful Local Infrastructure Organisations, providing capacity building and development support to voluntary organisations. Sajid took over at VAST in 2006 at a time of severe financial crisis and developed it into in a robust social enterprise.
Sajid has also been the driving force in the development of the Staffordshire Community Foundation and its endowment fund and set up Staffordshire Credit Union. In 2008 he was appointed by the minister of Local government Rt. Hon John Denham MP on to the Stoke City Transition Board a body to oversee developments in Stoke City Council.
